Notes for Walter Howard Blades
Gary writes, 2020-12-30: Walter was an outdoors man.
He was interested in hunting and trapping.
He had eel traps and set them at the mouth of Downeys Brook.
I'm not sure but I think we had eel for dinner from time to time.
He trapped animals for their fur.
What kind of animals I don't recall.
I will guess muskrat, beaver, mink and such.
He skinned the animals and stretched and dried the pelts on thin wooden boards shaped for that purpose.
A fur buyer came to the Victoria Hotel periodically and Walter would take his pelts there to sell.
