Sadly, Jane Morrigan, our speaker for the second half has cancelled, so we will be doing something else entertaining and educational in her place.
Welcome to storytellers and audience, help yourself to the food. The format today is borrowed from both the Mi'kmag tradition of stories being passed down intergenerationally, perhaps during long dark winter nights, and also from the grand tradition of Gertrude Stein and Alice B Toklas's New York salons where they held an audience rapt with their wit.
Presence of Jessica Webber - doing oral histories
Introduction of the storytellers - they will give 30 second self introductions.

OK this is going to take some finessing. We want you to tell a story about the bad old days ... but also balance it with a happy story of how we laughed and loved and lived.

Invitation

NAME, would you be a storyteller in a Storytelling Salon on the afternoon of July 13?

You just sit around a table with a a couple other Q elders, and tell stories about the good — and bad — old days, to youth?

It’s the Elderberries Storytelling Salon - we’ve done a number of them and it’s always nice to have new people.

It's quite fun. It's not a stand-and-delver a speech, it's sharing stories with fellow pioneers of our community in "that reminds me of a story" format -- and folks listening in.

What do you say? There’ll be refreshments and a tiny stipend.

Looking forward to seeing you Saturday! Christ Church, 50 Wentworth Street, Dartmouth, about a 5-minute walk from the ferry terminal.

Sessions will start at 2:15 and 3:00. Please show up 15 minutes before or come for the whole afternoon.

WHAT: "That Reminds Me Of A Story" small panel story telling. Two sessions; each session starts at the top of the hour and ends about 10 minutes to the next hour for refreshing the audience and storytellers.
