Gertrude and Donald lived most of their life in French River. Donald was a farmer and butcher, Gertrude worked with her son operating a tourist attraction and bed and breakfast. She was a leader in the community ever ready to organize a community concert and, if they were short on material, she would write a skit or song. She manged Green Gables Tea Room at Cavendish and was a teacher’s aid in Park Corner. She worked hard for the new school in Park Corner.
