Initial meeting between History UnErased and Elderberries * History UnErased: Deb Fowler & Danny Roberts. Nate & Danny go waaaayy back. * Elderberries: Dan (notes), Nathan Elling, Renee, Barend Deb Fowler: * the thought of History UnErased was created ten years ago in a classroom. * Unerasing black, women, indigenous, AARI ?? minorities as well as 2SLGBT histories. * The good news from yesterday can bring us and the archive into schools. * Everyone in the organization is an educator. * "We teachers have experienced terrible professonal development." * Our model is a whole- school or whole-district. * The price point is very low. * BUT having that purchase order is important. * It’s a supplemental curriculum, integrating into what teachers are teaching. * Primary source based content. * The heartbeat of what we do is the training. We deal with a lot of misunderstandings up front, too. Education nonprofit, not advocacy. There are a variety of tools that lead you to the resources so that teachers can design and control the content / curriculum in a variety of ways. Interactive, multimedia. 5 hours customized live virtual training. Interactive games are throughout the curriculum - encouraging students to think analytically. We watched the trailer for Pauli Murray (1910- 1975) - first in her class at Howard University Law school and the only woman. She is the first African American to earn a J.S.D. from Yale Law, and someone who we think figured out that she was transgendered and pursued hormonal treatment - but never got it.
