Discussion: Stephanie says the government rate is 51¢/km. The trip to King's Central was 109km • 2 ways • $0.51 = $111.18. Motion passed. STEPHANIE will cut a cheque to Dan for this amount ===Speaker's Bureau=== Speaker's Bureau hasn't been doing much - we wait for people to contact us. It would be very nice if we were more active in this. Lynn suggested that we have a mini conference to get people revitalized. Mini conference team: Lynn, Anita, & Barend ===Sharing some of the work for the events=== We're wasting a lot of time figuring out who does what each month. It would be nice if people volunteered for some period, e.g. a year. People who volunteer will be responsible for finding someone to do it if they can't * WAYNE volunteers as greeter * KEVIN volunteers as backup coffee / tea * BAREND volunteers as regular emcee * DAN volunteers as knife, fork, spoon, plate, cup, napkin ===Reappointing Anita to the board=== Dan moved that Anita be reappointed to the board. Barend seconded. No discussion. Motion passed. ===Regular Board Meetings=== Let's try the Monday BEFORE the Salon. So * June 5 * July 3 * August: probably don't need one for the picnic Agenda * Plan next few months of Salons * How can we ease the Secretary's workload? My idea is to download some of the local arrangements for the Salon, but others might have better ideas. In Elderberries' early years, a lot of the workload fell to the Chair (which then was me), so I understand how assorted tasks can gradually devolve onto one person. The idea is not to reduce the Secretary's role in Elderberries, but to free up time to fulfill that major role without becoming de-energized by a bevy of unrelated tasks. Also another Board member "without portfolio," or perhaps even a new Board member, could take on a more essential role in Elderberries. * What we will do during UNISON Queer Choruses festival on Victoria Day Weekend? * What we'll be doing for Halifax Pride * Progress on our time capsule project * Asking non Board members to take on tasks, presentations * What's new with our Speakers Bureau. Goals for autumn * Your questions and/or concerns
