Board Roles

This page documents the various roles that the Board does, arranged by boardmember.

Boardmember

• Preparing for and participating in meetings
• Making decisions about the direction of the organization
• Keeping an ear to the ground for news items, events etc. of interest or urgency to the organization and bringing them to the attention of the rest of the Board
• Generally promoting the best interests of the orgainzation

Chair

• Chairs Meetings - or delegates.
• Makes sure that the things we've promised to do, get done
• Makes sure that people who take on work have the proper resources

Secretary

• Records meeting notes
• Sends out notices
• Currently: Dan

Social Media Editor

• Posts notices to social media
• Responds to queries that come in from that channel
• Currently: Dan & Anita

Treasurer

• Keeps track of income and expenses
• Reports on them at every meeting
• Currently: Anita

Past Chair

Who fills this position : The Past Chair of Elderberries is a non-voting Board position filled by the immediate Past Chair.

Should the immediate past chair decline or be unable to fill the position, the Board may either choose to leave the position unfilled, or offer it to any previous Past Chair.

This position may not be combined with any other Board position.

Duties of the Past Chair :

• attends and participates in meetings of the Board and of the membership
• provides organizational continuity and historical perspective
• chairs the Nominating Committee
• chairs Elderberries Meetings in the absence of the Chair and the Vice-Chair
• represents Elderberries in meetings with other organizations, if requested by the Board

Newsletter Editor

• Collects and arranges content for the newsletter
• Currently: Barend

Events Producer

• May "pitch" the event to the Board
• Requests resources - people and money - from the Board
• Manages the event production
• Position should rotate so everyone gets experience, with help and advice from others.

Northwood Liason

• Books our space with Northwood
• Checks that the booking is still OK
• Maintains a relationship with Northwood space booking person
