2016-05-05: My contribution to Buddha's Birthday Feast at the Chan Buddhist Temple: vegetarian spare ribs.
Cook & mash the sweet potatoes (top) & add cornstarch to make something like play-doh, (left.) Cut up bamboo shoots (top left) into bone shapes (bottom left) form the yam dough around them (middle) then deep fry.
Once they're swimmin' in sweet-and-sour sauce they look just like the real McCoy.
