First stop of the day: Gabe's house in Saulnierville. We got some of Gabe's stuff, and stopped at the nearby bakery for bread, rapure, and Acadian Meat Pie.

The Main house is post and beam construction and was built in 1880 by M. Duffy, and the addition shortly afterwards. It was sold to Walter Thomas Saulnier for $500 in 1885. The sun porch was added in the 1920s; a well — a wooden barrel set in the floor below the water table — in the basement of the main house was used for making moonshine and beer. The main house had a central chimney which caused the house to sag, and was removed in the 1980s, leaving the kitchen and furnace chimney on the south end of the main roof.
