- [x] create zfs filesystem /zone/venus.old and restore all of old venus to it using venus:/root/restore.sh

... this failed because the global zone detected that the IP number was in use, resulting in this obscure message:
Installation of these packages generated errors: <CSWisaexec SUNWservicetagu SUNWstosreg> The file </zone/mercury/root/var/sadm/system/logs/install_log> contains a log of the zone installation.
The IP address previously set on the network interface ? f????<???@? ?? is no longer available. The system state is corrupted. System identification can no longer continue.
- [x] move mercury /local to correct place
- [x] move mercury /var/log

- [x] set up metadisk for the boot partition
- [x] set nvalias to be the names of the two boot devices

- [x] run sst
- [x] configure apache
- [ ] test that gd works with the "ship" database
- [x] set up postfix on mercury
- [x] test LayoutMachine upload, thumbnails etc.
Finally
- [ ] delete all the remaining garbage in venus.old
- [ ] consider hosting communitywiki.org
