Favourite Internet Resources From Participants
Symposium XXV Internet Roundtable
Daniel MacKay, 1999-05-29
Thank you all for coming to the workshop. Here are the notes I made
of your favourite and useful places on the Internet.
Daniel
- MetaCrawler Search Engine
... come to terms with your ass, for it bears you. I found almost
all of the links that I put on this page using it, in seconds.
- Newsgroups: alt.audio.minidisc, soc.culture.costa-rica, can.motss
soc.motss, Halifax local groups, Nova Scotia local groups,
rec.food.preserving, some work related newsgroups, sci.med.aids,
rec.antiques.radio+phono, comp.risks, eunet.jokes
- IRC for chat. I'm on
EFNet, my nick is CapnDan -- set your /notify list for me!
- I'm the keeper of the
Halifax Pride '99 Home Page
- The Halifax Pride '99 Committee also has a private page for
committee business -- phone numbers, to-do lists &c.
- eBay internet auction, where
I'm biddin' my paycheque away.
- Nifty Erotic Stories Archive
... not sure if there's any lesbian stuff there but there's a
squillion gay stories, all neatly categorized.
for personals ads
- David had asked how I use the Internet to help with the
Solar Nova Scotia (I'm Secretary) phone tree.
There's not much to it. We pick reliable people who have e-mail
in various regions, and ask each of them to call a small
number of people when they get SNS notices.
- I'm on SixDegrees where you
link yourself to all your friends, and they to all their freinds
and so on and on and on. Have fun, sign up, link to me, find
your friends.
