Notes for “Aggie” “Mayme” Kathleen MacKay
Jennifer (MacKay - b 1961) Murphy says: Favourite quotes of Aggie’s:
* “When we get to the pearly gates we’ll be goddamn shocked at who you see there, and more shocked at who we don’t.”
* if I lose my sober senses and you throw a string of beads on me and parade me up and down the streets of Kensington with my mouth hanging open I will come back and haunt you.

She told a story of Bessie in the truck, and my brother Dale turned into the yard too sharp, and Bessie rolled out of the truck onto the ground. Aggie would say if I lose my sober senses I want you not to put my seatbelt on, and don’t close the door tightly I want you to take a sharp turn by the five and dime and I will roll out of the car onto the ground. She’s actually told me that story 100 times I swear

One time myself Jacqueline, Chris, Clark had red measles. Aggie would arrive every morning and care for us all day. We were all small. Red measles get in your eyes so light hurts your eyes. She pulled our mattresses out into the living room put dark blankets on the windows and we were there for about a week. She would bring fresh sheets & pyjamas every day. (We never even owned sheets or pyjamas). Real food and give us sponge baths — one of the few times we were ever mothered. We all have such a strong memory of that event. Aggie said every time she tried to bathe Chris or Clark’s private area they would say ”my Dad will do that when he comes home from fishing.”
Notes for Lester Russell & “Aggie” “Mayme” Kathleen (Family)
Mollie Cooke writes on Facebook: I remember the Cold Storage. Living on a farm, no refrigerator, half a cow/pig would go into the cold storage until we’d need it. Certainly remember the Champions and their family.
