House is 40 x 32, slab on grade. 9'6" Ceilings, 6" walls, fibreglass insulation (6" in walls, 10-12" in ceiling).
This was a new home constructed off-grid in 2003/4. There are four Sharp 185 watt collectors with storage batteries, inverter and generator back up. Average electricity use is approximately 2 KwH per day.
One Thermo Dynamic hot water panel to preheat water before propane burners boost the domestic hot water. Propane is also used for the kitchen stove.
The house is heated passively, or by a wood-stove with an in-floor loop; propane driven heat is available. Kohler windows and doors built with a passive solar design.
