Management says: "By using ground heat, we are able to cut 60% of electricity usage."

Economics & Performance

Under worst conditions, the heat pumps run no more than 60% of the time. 100% of the required heat comes from the heat pump and passive solar.

Description

Resort/Home was built of re-used lumber from expired buildings.

Owner says: "[Our] resort features geothermal heat pumps for heating, cooling and domestic hot water (no freon coolant is used). The water used for the heat pumps is returned to recovery wells. We have facilities for recycling paper, food containers, bottles, [organics] and cans. With the exception of some power tools, fossil fuels are not used in any part of our eco-resort. " each building is equip with a 6-ton heat pump.
