Purpose

To create an energy efficient home which suited our needs for space and functionality and also to blend into the landscape and impose as little as possible.

Economics & Performance

Our heating bill is less than $400 per year but that includes some sweat equity as we buy our wood in 8 ft lengths and cut and split it ourselves

Lot Characteristics

one and a half acre lot with a gentle slope north to a sand beach and the ocean

Comments

Our house is 20 years old (built in 86) The new Roscoe houses contain more enhanced technology and they have benefitted from the experiences of all the earlier builds

What would we do different?

Pay more attention to the joint between the floor and the concrete walls as we have had some problems with water intrusion. The problems are fixable but annoying
