===How to Submit, Format and Edit Literature on Composium.org=== Step 1: Open a second window or tab, go to www.composium.org and click "edit this page" at the very bottom (FYI, this appears on the bottom of every page except the copyright terms page). Step 2: Notice that each link to submitted work then appears as an * followed by two [s and ending with two ]s. The * creates a bullet point, and the brackets create a link. (Please use the same formatting here as the other entries so we can keep consistency--also, make sure you preview everything before you save). Step 3: When saved, your link comes up on the screen followed by a question mark and with the brackets and the * still visible. Click on the question mark and proceed to your link. Step 4: From here on out I suggest following by the example of these two previous submissions: http://composium.org/A_Tale_of_Two_Cities_--_by_Charles_Dickens and http://composium.org/As_You_Like_It_--_by_William_Shakespeare. Investigate how page titles are created (three =s, the title, three =s) and see how a list of sub books, chapters, acts or scenes can be created using the same method as any other link. Make your link titles have unique names (for example, view http://composium.org/?action=edit;id=As_You_Like_It_--_by_William_Shakespeare to see how everything preceding a | becomes the address, while everything after a | becomes what the link says). Here are some additional things to keep in mind: * Please, always use your username when making ANY change, and also (preferably) type what the change is in the box off to the right. To find your own username, type in something like www.composium.org/username. If the page says "This page is empty", edit the page to create a profile. In the example www.composium.org/username, "www.composium.org/username" would be your profile page and "username" would be your username. There are no passwords, but IPs are tracked by the website in the case of abuse or authorship debate. * To maintain the formatting of any submitted verse, make sure the body of poems begins and ends with the three : layout observable in this link: http://composium.org/?action=edit;id=Cup_and_Saucer But note also that anything indented will automatically be interpreted as verse and will look like this text. For now, just skip a line in your writing to imply a new paragraph. * Everyone should be comfortable posting anything they want on composium.org--the end goal, after all, is the creation of a new, democratic, and collaborative written art. It is very hard to cause permanent damage to the website involuntarily because everything is saved in its own page history. If you want to fool around so as to learn the ropes, go to the [[sandbox]]. * If you are savvier at explaining this technology than has been attempted here, please edit this page and/or post your own guide as a link [[How to submit, format and edit literature on Composium.org|here]]. ===For More Information=== [http://www.usemod.com/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?TextFormattingRules Click here for an exhaustive description of this wiki's ''markup'']
