The Forgotten Sailor

The water soaked his hands a final time,
The sky revealed the inner orb of blue,
A crescent floated orangely on the water’s edge,
As droplets, wet and green, were forming dew.
Behind him sank the grandeur of his shadow,
Beneath him sunk the burden of his shoes—
His shadow drifted homeward from the water’s edge,
As darkness tinted black his orb of blue.
