Daily Bread Routine By Shawna Henderson

This page is all about routinely making bread, even a small loaf, every day.

Shawna says:

My loaf-a-day habit starts with about half of the starter (and I just eyeball it and scoop - measuring is goooooopy).

Every morning, I do four things:

  1. I take today's dough out of the bowl, shape it into a loaf, and let it rest for an hour.
  2. I make tomorrow's dough with 1/2 of the starter (see my version of dough below)
  3. I replenish the starter with 1/4c water and 1/2c flour and put it up high on the top of a cabinet so it's always in the warmest spot and not getting in the way.
  4. Toss the loaf in the oven and walk away til the buzzer goes off and the bread is ready.
