home pi's disk got fucked and 

 ipup

doesn't work any more so to do it manually

 ifconfig eth0 up 192.168.2.21 netmask 255.255.255.0
 ip route add default via 192.168.2.1 dev eth0

To fix this I need

  1. 2 x 32G SD cards
  2. USB SD card writer

Site A0002 Repair

Found two problems:

  • power draw or ground draw for the flow meters was causing the 1-Wire bus to fail. Recommend we put these on their own power pin off the RPi's header
  • line to the rooftop is shorted - meter reads 1 ohm.

Diagnostics at Site A0002

  • Problem: SD card frame on RaspberryPi was broken, so SD card didn't stay in. Solution: RaspberryPi replaced (with one borrowed from Moose)
  • Problem: not getting any sensors reading. Condition: water flow sensor (not the 1-Wire counter) was sucking up too much power. Solution: Disconnected for today.
  • Problem: Sensor T3 was flaky. Solution: replaced.

Notes

  • Boot OK, login OK, IP 192.168.2.107

Get wireless USB thing working:

 ifconfig wlan0 up
 apt-get install iw
 iw dev wlan0 scanning

Set the timezone:

 dpkg-reconfigure tzdata

  • Get RRD installed
  • Get data collection (from weather service) running on the RPi
  • Finish the first version of "collect" and "receive"
  • Upgrade the RPi with
 apt-get update
 apt-get upgrade

  • get box & mount RPi in it
  • write first versions of "send" and "receive"

Get the RaspberryPi, arrange power supply, boot it up.

Start the window manager with 

 startlxde

Enable I2C Driver using the commands

 modprobe i2c-bcm2708
 modprobe i2c-dev

... and get the i2c-tools using

 apt-get install i2c-tools
