Elderberries Board Meeting 14 February, 2025 Present: Lynn (hosting), Kaitlin, Barend (notes), Dan Zoom: Pauline & Renée 1. The composition of the New Board. These have consented to run for Board at our Annual General Meeting: Allison Brewer, Nathan Elling, Pauline Federick, Lynn Murphy (Past Chair), Dan MacKay (Secretary), Kailin Drury (Treasurer), Renee Clark, Barend Kamperman (Chair.) The names first listed (from Alison to Barend, except for me) are those who have "consented to run" rather than "offered to apply to the Board" for positions on the Board. The Board intends to put their names forward as a Slate, but they still have to be elected by the membership. Very often new Boards have been elected by acclamation. ACTION: LYNN and BAREND: contact other possible boardmembers. 2. Salons and Events February through May * Please see [[Program Ideas]] for the things we've agreed on. ACTION: LYNN: will contact Marshall Haywood about possibly presenting. ACTION: PAULINE: will work with the Hfx cops to prepare a fall salon on domestic violence with an emphasis on queer relationships. ACTION: DAN: will send our Halifax Madeleine cops' contact Madeleine Goldsmith, to Pauline. [DONE] 3. Archival Go Fund Me project. * We have raised over $2,200.00 CD though Paypal and e-transfers to finance rescuing and properly archiving Anita Martinez many photographs and historical info. There was some confusion with our TD Bank about how this could be expedited. This has since been resolved. Our original goal was $1,200.00 * Some of the funds raised will be used to have "captioning parties" with veterans of the 70s and 80s. ACTION: BAREND & KAITLIN: will compose a thank you email to send separately to each donor. (About 32 thus far.) 4. Lynn Murphy reminded us that that day, February 14th was Pink Triangle Day. It was Robin Metcalfe who advocated the idea to remember the gays and lesbains who were exterminated by the Nazis. 5. Revising our Elderberries Brochure. Dan has incorporated Lynn's revisions. The new version is ready to print. 6. Halifax Pride has set aside a two hour time slot (and locale?) during Pride Week for us. We should take it and decide what we'll do. Lynn has an idea of a possible speaker. 7.There was some talk about a Community Grants Program. But it didn't reflect our group's aims. 8. Board "Job Descriptions." Lynn agreed to examine each definition in the documents. She'll bring them one at a time to the Board's attention with tweaks, for us to critique and approve.
