=Place Names Discussion= Defining Moments Canada (DMC) has a project called Proud to Be: Queer Canadian Histories of the 1960s-1970s. They are creating a map of queer spaces across Canada for young people - junior and senior high school I think. Topic: Places, spaces, that were important to the Q community in the 1960s and 1970s. I anticipate inviting about 15 people. We will make it clear that we have limited room and will be creating a specificically diverse room. Invitation list goals: representation from: * Old folk who were there * Diversity: Men, women, drag queens, PoC * Academics * Invitation list is below ===Invitation=== If you know someone who has a really good memory for LGBT spaces and places in Halifax and Nova Scotia in the 1970s, please read on. Elderberries is hosting a "high tea" -- a substantial mid afternoon meal -- with a discussion about which spaces and places that should get included in a short list. We're tempting you with gourmet food, and there'll be some social time too. Your chef will be Elderberries member Nathan Elling, former owner of Mana Cuisine in Los Angeles. Nathan worked for 10 years in LA catering large events and private parties. We'll have limited space at the table. If you know someone with a good memory for places, please encourage them to contact us; if you do, please write back. Here's a little more information: The organization _Proud to Be_ is creating Q history curriculum items for high school students in Canada, including an interactive map of "walking tours" of historically significant places. On November 27 we will be figuring out what those places for Halifax and Nova Scotia are. We will be discussing and compiling a list of spaces and places that were relevant to the LGBT community in the 1960s and 1970s. If you remember lots of Q spaces and places, please RSVP. ===Food=== The food is our bait, our reward for participating.
