Speaker's Bureau (or maybe just Dan) visit to Spencer House This came out of a chance meeting when Kaitlyn & Dan went there for a Quaker meeting. November 20, 2024 Contact at Spencer House: Brittany Lambert <connect@spencerhouse.ca> Brittany: I'm just writing to confirm that upcoming Spencer House and Elderberries collaboration as well as your Lunch and Learn time speaking about your work as a historian. I have you scheduled in for next week and there are some members who are very excited. It's due time we start recognizing our queer members formally in our programming so I'm very excited to see how this goes! "The topic can be anything at all! I'm more interested in everyone having fun and enjoying themselves than ensuring it's a "wellness" activity because building community is wellness! You can invite as many Elderberries as you like, the more the merrier. I think the room fits about 35 people seated and even after that we'd make it work if we needed to. The only presentation I think we'd like to see is on what The Elderberries are/what they do and how to get involved. I would hope that this event not only introduces the Elderberries to Spencer House but also Spencer House to the Elderberries! We could plan a game or come up with a storytelling/sharing prompt if you think that might be a good idea? " ===Dan's Talk=== Ways of doing history: * saving things - archiving ** how to save them ** what to save with them. ** Photos: need context * Don't think about saving this for next year. Think 100 or 500 years into the future. * Photos on your hard disk and your phone will just disappear. After you die no one will have time to look through those unless you specify it in your will and leave resources. ===Take with me=== * A Jim DeYoung photo album? * The Book of Me * Old Wayves issues
