It was great connecting with you all, learning more about the Elderberries and exploring ways Enchanté can support your work. In our meeting, we discussed your hopes of expanding the work of the speaker's bureau. My suggestion to you was to find funding to hire a coordinator that can help with formalizing the process and build a relationship with the school boards/GSAs. For funding opportunities, you may want to explore the following options: Private Funding - through a financial institution (i.e. TD, Scotiabank), Community Foundation of Halifax Provincial/Municipal Government grants - some options include the Community Grants Program, Halifax Foundation Federal Grants - your best option may be the Women and Gender Equality Canada department. Right now, they have no applications that fit your need, but if you check the link periodically, there may be some options. https://women-gender-equality.canada.ca/en/funding/funding-programs.html#wb-auto-5 During our conversation, you mentioned that the Elderberries had considered registering as a charity. I'd strongly encourage you all to do so. Even if you do not want to expand your programming or funding budget, it will allow you to receive larger donations in the future and more funding options. Also, can you connect me with Stephanie via email? I'd like to continue our conversation about trans healthcare in Nova Scotia. If she's still interested in discussing it further, I can connect her to my colleague, Jyssika Russell, our Manager of Public Affairs and Communications, who assists with advocacy needs. Best Regards, Brittany Hudson, They/Them/Iel Manager of Programs Directrice des programmes
