Dan did a presentation to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia Annual General Meeting with Dr Jacquie Gahagan. MarcoRedden contacted Dan 2021-07-13 about it. =Talk= Intro to the Elderberries * History * Number of Members * Activities: Social, Education, Public Speaking, Activism Just did a quick survey. 10 responses. Key phrases from the responses that relate to Q specific interests: * I may not be comfortable talking about my sexuality, but it's important * Quicker access to diagnostic services" * "Don't make an assumption about my partner's gender. * reverting back to before being out" * "don't assume straightness * distinction between str8 and gay inappropriate behaviour * 2 x thank you * 3 x chosen family We see that three people mention that they want to be attended to by their chosen family; this fits with our work earlier this year with the Canadian Virtual Hospice on their documents for the 2SLGBTQ+ documents, "Planning for my care" and "Bill of Rights". (Read some of the parts of "Planning For My Care") Q: * (can't remember first q) * What should we do about other residents that have inappropriate behaviour? A: the staff should be trained, have a certificate, in dealing with inappropriate behaviour in regards to racism, islamophobia, antisemitism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny -- and homophobia. This is all just part of that anti-bigotry package. JohnClive wrote to Elderberries FB group: Thank you to Dan and the Elderberries for your presentation at our conference today. Such an incredibly important conversation. Thank you for your wisdom and knowledge 💞
