Welcome members of Elderberries to our 2020 AGM Order of business today: The day actually consists of two meetings. The only function of this first meeting is to present the Annual Reports and to elect the new board. After that we have ... (whatever it is.) Does that layout for the day sound OK? Any suggestions for improvements? ===Chair's Report=== Salons In 2019: * JANUARY: New Year's Resolutions. your most memorable winter. The Speakers Bureau did several public events with Dalhousie and some schools. Next year: we're still thinking of connecting to the Mi'kmag Friendship Centre. We had a good Pride Salon at the Unitarian Church, we talked about dealing with homophobia and had a very interesting talk from a trans person, and trips to Washington etc. for demonstration. We've been talking a lot about assisted living for LGBT Elders - this is not for when you're independent, it's when you can't take care of yourself. If you want more information, contact Dan. This is 2020, it's our 10-year anniversary. If you have any ideas, come to us, we want to hear them. Idea: What does quality of life mean? A discussion about that would be handy. In 2020 we'll be continuing our Speaker's Bureau; if you're interested, get in contact, get on our list. Tuma Young is starting a similar group called the Elderberries in Cape Breton. Frequently attending members Scott MacNeil & Ann Gorman passed away in the last year. ===Treasurer's Report=== We have a couple hundred dollars more than we did last year. Nothing's missing. We're doing OK. Q: How much do you want to get the bank balance to? A: We have no specific target. We spend more on large events. Secretary Dan's addendum: We didn't do a financial report this year. We have records of about $364 in passing-the-hat, $550 from Halifax Pride for the Pride Salon of which we spent $490. What records we have show: Collection of $323.51 plus 120.96 donated by Anita. We spent $180 on the Meetup registration system; about $20 on a daybook for Barend; about $150 on printing mugs which we'll sell for a bit more and about $23 on bank charges. We started the year with 940.18 in the bank; we don't know what the ending bank balance was. ===Membership=== We had 24 new members in 2019, compared to 55 in 2018! As of end of year, we had 275 emails on our mailing list and 6 people on our phone list. Pauline has been faithfully calling the phone people to let them know about the meetings (although I'm not sure if any of them ever come.) We just got a note that we're published in the Halifax Municipality 211 directory. Norval Collins is continuing as our NSRAP liaison and attends their monthly meetings. Our Meetup group has 329 members; our Facebook group has 420 followers. ===Election=== Now, presentation of our slate of new board of directors. For our election, we propose to present to you a slate of directors, a motion to accept that slate, discussion and a vote.
