Meeting with Paula from CARP at the Glitter Bean Café, 3:00pm. Present: Anita, Allison, Barend, Dan (notes) Meeting with Paula Wedge, Vice-President of CARP NS and chair of health advisory committee What word to use? LGBT2SQQ?? “Queer” for now. Paula: Within our ranks we probably have lots of singles and couples of “queer” people. The issues we fight for are issues that are equally applicable to everyone. 2018 Priorities * Pension Protection * Resdent Safety in Long Term Care * RRIF Reform * Access to Affordable Housing * Stand (or Sit) Up Straight (physical exercise) PAULA suggested as an icebreaker, a couple people from the Elderberries come to a board meeting. What does Elderberries want from CARP? What if your spouse comes out? What if your spouse goes through gender affirmation? What can CARP do for us? * Have a table at the AGM - cost = $100. AGM is usually the end of May, about 225 people come during the day. * Publish an article in Zoomer. PAULA will report to the CARP board that there are some possibilities of co-planning an event PAULA will check in about running a small article about the Elderberries. Barend: I was a member for a while and it seemed like CARP exists for couples, or people with higher income. ELDERBERRIES will decide on attending the AGM in May - $100.
