2017

April’s Event will include a talk about the Seniors College Association of Nova Scotia. The Seniors College Association was created in 2007 by retired university professors - yes, courses for seniors, taught by seniors. Students experience the joy of learning without the pressure of exams or papers to write. You will meet new friends and you will open your mind to new possibilities in a rapidly changing world.

The goals of Seniors College are to provide stimulating peer learning opportunities for members, to make sure that learning is fun; to be responsive to the needs and interests of seniors 50 years and over; to work and develop links with other organizations to further the goals of the College, and to initiate and participate in research on subjects that affect seniors' way of life.

Current courses include A Social Cultural View of African Nova Scotian History, A Beginner's Guide to the Italian Renaissance, Shakespeare and Old Age , A Short & Incomplete History of Oil & Foreign Policy, Issues in Environmental Law, Atlantic Regional Development, Astronomy, The Art of Aging Well, and, offered in Chester only, Spy School!

Past course range from to Introductory Astronomy to a History of the Hollywood Musical, to Van Gogh & The Post-Impressionists and How to Talk Back to an Economist.
