Hey folks,

I wanted to make sure you are aware of the Age-Friendly Communities Grant opportunity. If Elderberries has not considered applying, it would be a great chance to receive some funding to support an initiative you might have.

Also, I would love to meet with you to discuss opportunities to implement a positive spaces program in some of our muchly in need Nova Scotian nursing homes and continuing care facilities if you are interested. I believe Lynn was in touch with Lezlie Lee Kam when she was in town for Pride. Lezlie had really inspired me with the work being done in Ontario to make safer spaces for LGBTIQ+ elders. I would love to discuss what Elderberries and NSRAP see as the next steps in supporting our aging LGBTIQ+ population here in Nova Scotia. Perhaps there are opportunities to partner on an initiative.

All the best. Maddi MacDonald Co-Chair, LGBTI Network

Asking NSRAP for $100/mo for victuals

Subject:	Re: Request to NSRAP for $100.00 monthly for refreshments

I am disappointed to learn of the request for $100.00 monthly support from NSRAP for the purpose of providing food for the salons. Originally an NSRAP project, Elderberries gradually (over the course of ten years) became independent from NSRAP. Part of that independence was ourselves providing the refreshments at gatherings. If the potluck format is burdensome to the members, perhaps it is time to look at the refreshment issue again, but still with an eye to independence : 1) we now have a bank account - let us (frugally) spend our own money; or, 2) provide tea and coffee only; or, 3) clarify that the money collected by passing the hat is for refreshments (this is much the same as option 1, as the money in the bank mostly comes from passing the hat). It was my impression that the free will offering (aka passing the hat) does not come anywhere near $100.00.

NSRAP is a political organization, of which I am a member : I think their/our money should be spent on political objectives. If Elderberries has a political project needing support, then is the time to ask for money.

Due to illness, I have missed some Elderberries potlucks, Board meetings, and e-mails. This issue may already have been discussed in depth by the Board before the request made by Norval was was sent forward. If so, I apologize for being late to the discussion.
