Elderberries Board Meeting, 2018-02-01

Meeting came to order at about 2:30 at Dan's place

Present: Dan (notes), Anita, Scott, Barend, Allison

February 12 Speaker Event

• Citizenship 9 at John Martin Junior High. Teacher: Christine McKenna
• ANITA will coordinate
• Dan & Barend are available if necessary
• DAN will send an invitation out to the elderberries-speaker list with instructions to contact Anita.
• DAN will ask the teacher to get the students to do questions beforehand.

Tea Kettle

• Dan & Allison do not like the new tea kettle. Sorry, Anita.
• ANITA will return the tea kettle to Canadian Tire.
• ALLISON will find a really nice tea kettle.

Upcoming programs

• March: AGM (details below)
• April: Pride Health Round Table. Planning not finished yet

Allison to the LGBTQS Leadership Summit

• this is awesome
• Dan would like to go next year.

March 10 AGM + Pride Round Table

AGM

• We should have our Slate ready so we can have a very brief AGM
• Chair's report. Treasurer's Report. Presentation of Board. Elections.
• Nominations
  • ANITA will ask Darlene to be on the Board
  • ALLISON will ask Paula Wedge

Pride Round Table

• Possible theme: "Pride Round Table High Tea"
• Pride is sponsoring the food
• We will invite the OWLs
• Catering: theme: English High Tea: Thyme Out Café, or Jane Wright

NSRAP Funding Of Events

• Discussion: NSRAP has some $$ that they could be giving to us. We should pitch a proposal to them.
• DAN & ALLISON will work on a proposal over the next couple months.

Meetup group

• Name: "Halifax 45+ LGBTQ Commingle group"
• Alex Handyside is paying $180 CAD/year for ours. He wants to stop and for us to pay for it. How do we figure out if it has value?
• Agreed, it does have value
• MOTION: We will sponsor the group for the next year. Seconded, carried.
• DAN will get the cheque for $180 to Alex.

CARP AGM

• Do we want to attend the CARP AGM in May?
• Cost $100 for a booth.
• Agreed: Yes.
• MOTION: to spend the $100 for the AGM. Seconded. Passed.
• DAN will begin registration with, & get details from, Paula Wedge
