Topic: InvestiGAYtors the SHaG Lab, & Elderberries

Aviv remembered meeting me at Fort Needham

At their request, I had a meeting with Zak Crawford and three undergrad students at the SHaG lab (where I used to work) about a program called “InvestiGAYtors” where they train young queers to be researchers.

But this is not about research. As part of their mandate, InvestiGAYtors has to do events in the queer community. Some time ago they asked if the Elderberries could be this upcoming terms’ community, and I said sure (and forgot about it.)

This evening was the meeting about that. They wanted to know what kind of events the Elderberries already did, what we had planned, what I thought would work well.

I shared some of the historical events, they were interested in ones that were well attended.

They had lots of questions, and then I read off some of Program Ideas.

in particular: they were really REALLY excited about getting Georgina to talk about her career of healing the Q community. (I’m not sure if we can actually make this happen.)

They were interested in a “speed getting to know you” event where people talk with someone new for, say, 20 minutes. We also talked about an event where people who had dogs, brought them so that people who like dogs but don’t have one, could play together.

So anyway, they asked if they could organize January, February and March, including food, venue and logistics, two events per month, and I said sure.
