Re: ACNS Halifax Pride application to the New Horizons for Seniors Program
Dear Selection Committee,
On behalf of the Elderberries Society of Nova Scotia, I would like to endorse the AIDS Coalition of Nova Scotia's application for funding through the TD Group’s Proud of our Pride Program.
The Elderberries Society was founded in 2009 as a social, educational and outreach group for 2SLGBTQ+ Nova Scotians aged 50 and older. It hosts monthly social events that are free and open to the public, maintains a speakers bureau, organises events during Halifax Pride and at other times during the year.
ACNS and the Elderberries Society have enjoyed a long and productive working relationship. Our membership has expressed enthusiasm for the “Looking Back/Looking Forward” project and hopes to contribute by sharing its collective expertise and experience. It will also work with ACNS to ensure members of the elder community have a voice in the visioning and implementation of the final product.
We have complete confidence in ACNS’s ability to fulfil the requirements of this funding request and believe it falls well within the guidelines, criteria and spirit of TD Bank’s support for the 2SLGBTQ+ community in Halifax.
Sincerely,
Barend Kamperman
Chair
The Elderberries Society of Nova Scotia
