2019-04 Survey

In April 2019, Capital Health’s prideHealth and the Elderberries administered a healthcare system concerns and problems survey to a LGBT+ Elders population of approximately 700; 37 responses were received.

In general, people were fairly content with their health care and had not experienced homophobia. Five topics came up several times:

• Difficulty of getting a doctor;
• Lgbt friendly supportive housing;
• Cost of medications;
• Not wanting to use walk in clinics; and
• Enforced shortness of visits to one’s GP.
