FAMILY SEWING MACHINES

THE SINGER EMBROIDERY ATTACHMENT

This attachment, in connection with the SINGER Lock Stitch Sewing Machines for Family Use, and using silk twist, chenille or silver or gold thread, forms upon the fabric a series of connected circles, each of which is fastened by a stitch of the needle thread. Stamped designs or other figures can be easily followed and a very attractive ornamentation produced.

To Adjust the Attachment

Raise the needle bar to its highest point, and remove the needle. Raise the presser bar, take out the thumb screw which fastens the presser foot, take off the foot and push up the thread cutter as far as it will go upon the presser bar. Raise the driving arm of the attachment and place its fork on the hub of the needle clamp, then pass the body of the attachment to the left between the needle bar and fasten it firmly in position on the foot bar with the presser foot thumb screw. Replace the needle and thread the machine as for ordininary sewing.

Insert the small end of the spool wire (26535, Fig. 2) for the embroidery thread into the oil hole in the top of the machine arm near the head, as shown in Fig.1, with the long part extending back of the machine, and place the spool of embroidery thread upon it.

To Thread the Attachment

See FIG. 2

Pass the end of the embroidery thread from the spool, from front to back through the eyelet (1) nearest you in the attachment driving arm, then up and into the eyelet (2) at the top of the attachment, down and backward through the other eyelet (3) on the driving arm, and downward so that it will pass between the back of the eyelet and the spring, down and toward you through the eyelet (4) at the right hand near the presser foot. With the needle at its highest point, pass the thread to the left through the hole (5) in the upper side [DAN: to the LEFT through the BACK hole] of the looper, then to the right through the hole (6) in the left hand side of the looper [DAN: back through the FRONT hole]. Place the threads under the presser foot (7), insert the fabric to be embroidered under the presser foot, lower the foot and commence stitching, following the design previously stamped on the fabric.
