Pride doesn't mean you go around bragging to people about your work, and it doesn't mean just the enjoyment you get when someone compliments you on your work.
One indication of pride in your work is that you are willing to show it to your friends.
Being proud of your work has nothing to do with innovation. You can be as proud of a well-waxed floor or an absolutely perfectly cleaned toilet, as you are of a new way to keep lawn clippings out of the flower bed that no one ever thought of before.
