Hi, I recently attended your information session in Musq Hbr on behalf of a non-profit organization looking to include solar in to our renovation project. We have been directed to a couple possible programs, Efficiency NS Custom Solutions program, and SolarCity’s Solar Electricity for Community Buildings Pilot Program. As we look closer in to these programs, it seems apparent the average consumer may have challenges with requirements of the RFP process for the Efficiency NS program. I was wondering if SolarNS offers some advisory services as we complete the RFP and applications for these programs? We are not looking for financing options as our project has room in the budget for this addition, but if we are going to do this, we want to make sure to take advantage of any available programs that may be available.

Below is information received from Efficiency NS when inquiring about rebates available for our organization.

We do not have any prescriptive rebates for Solar under our Commercial programs at this time. This kind of upgrade could only fall under our Custom Solutions program, which is essentially a program for large scale projects that do not fall under our programs. The projects are accepted on a case-by-case basis, depending on the project size, energy savings, equipment and project cost.

As a starting point to pre-screen your project for potential eligibility we would request the following information be submitted for review by our Custom team:

Quantified electrical energy savings (including calculations used to quantify energy savings); Quote for solar PV; and Solar PV spec sheets.

These documents can be sent directly to the Customs Solutions team atcicustom@efficiencyns.ca. Pre-approval is required for all Solar PV projects, to be considered for eligibility all criteria must be met.

For projects to receive an incentive through the Custom program, they must meet a minimum of 10,000kWh electrical energy savings and be under a 15 year simple payback. Once engineers on the Custom team review the calculations used to quantify the savings, we can determine if the project can receive an incentive.

Thanks, any information you can provide would be appreciated.
