The file name is ''Fighting For Womens Centers'' so that's a clue! http://gyazo.com/6334ce47df3a3e40eb35e4dd2a3ad14c.png ---- Dan says: the second photo is mine, just taken - at the top of Duke Street, almost at Brunswick. ---- Isn't that Jane Allen in the middle holding the Sec State sign? -- kansas 2011-11-13 12:34 ---- 1997 In front of Secretary of State offices in Halifax - protests to the then Liberal Government' cuts to women's organizations. They spent as much or more on balloons for Canada Day celebrations. Yes, Jane Allen looking wistfully into the distance. Beside her with glasses Tuma Young and beside Tuma on the right Bethan Lloyd. Morrell -- Anonymous 2011-11-13 12:53 ---- I could swear the person 2nd from the right is Tuma. -- Ross Boutilier -- Dan 2011-11-13 16:54 ---- Hi Dan - funding for Women's Centres was cut in the late '80s I think. I was already living on the South Shore by then, and on the board of my local women's centre. The woman 3rd from left is Mary Ann Mancini [holding sign 'make the gov't pay'] and the one on the far right with the sun in her glasses is Betty Ann Lloyd, who now has a different name. The photo seems to be taken at the south end of Gottingen St, with the Citadel in the background. The woman in the middle could be Jane Morigan, but see what others say. Feel free to quote me! The event may have been written up in the WHEN newsletter, Vitality. -- Deborah Trask -- Dan 2011-11-13 18:55 ---- Tuma Young is definitely the 2nd from the right (we pronounced the T as a D "Duma" if that helps anyone..he and I were walking along and came across the protest and of course had to join in -Mary Ann Mancini -- Anonymous 2011-11-14 09:43 ---- Yup that is me. Jane Allen is next to me and then Mary Ann Mancini. I don't know who the other three are but Mary Ann is right, we were walking along and joined the protest. Typical Cape Breton-see a picket line and join in. This would have been in 1990 or 91. It was published in Pandora.
